The Two Towers

Every now and then, we have a customer that challenges us with a unique project.

In this case, it was building matching gaming computers for a husband and wife. It was very important that both computers were as close to identical as possible, in order to not create hostilities over who had the “better” computer. Anyone who has ever handled rebates knows the considerable challenge this provides, since most rebates are limited to 1 per household. Nevertheless, we set a budget, discussed build options, and finally settled on a spec list. During discussions, it was determined that the customer had access to some HDDs and a few copies of Windows, so there was no need to purchase these. Going with a pre-built option would not have allowed this option. By setting a delivery date 3 weeks in the future, we were able to shop around for the best deals on each of the components we decided on.

A week before the agreed upon delivery date, the final components arrived.

This build allowed the customer to meet his current needs for gaming and work, while allowing easy ability to upgrade in the future. The motherboard supports i7 processors, USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0, and SATA III (6 Gbit/s). It has a beautifully easy to use UEFI BIOS and 2 open DIMM slots for adding more RAM. The power supply has headroom to run the latest graphics cards.

More importantly, the computer met his current needs. The SSD allows for quick boots and instant program loading. The efficient and speedy processor and RAM will handle demanding tasks. The graphics card will allow this husband and wife team to play their favorite games on ultra/very high settings.

In the end, both the customer and RCC were pleased with the results. We delivered the PCs ahead of schedule and $100 under budget (and hundreds more under what similar systems cost by other builders). The customer emailed to let us know, “I can honestly say I have never been as satisfied with a service as I am with yours!
