High-End Gaming Build

Wow, do we have a lot to catch up on–with the arrival of our second child last spring, time for updates ran short. We’ll be throwing some select builds on the blog over the next month to try and get caught up.

First up, we had a customer approach us last Spring asking for a build to get him the highest settings on his favorite games. After some investigation into his needs (high performance with near silent operation), we purchased the following parts.

The Silencer MK III is 80 PLUS Gold certified, fully modular, and nearly silent thanks to the 140mm double ball-bearing fan. Also, it looks incredible.

The case features a modular drive arrangement, which allowed us to remove some drive bays and open up space for airflow. We mounted the HDD on the bottom cage.

The Noctua cooler is a favorite of ours–you just can’t beat it in performance without going full open-loop cooling. The RAM is hiding under there.

Here, you can see the size of the Noctua compared to the video card. Absolutely massive! The heat pipes on the video card give it the look of a drag racer. The red features of the motherboard, video card, and Noctua fans give it a nice theme.

The case features a brushed metal finish with drive bays hidden behind the top panel. The metal case feet are a nice touch.

The top features your sound inputs and USB ports, along with the power button surrounded by an LED.

Open up the top panel to reveal the internal drive bays.

The interior of the case features foam padding to muffle all sound.

The customer was very impressed with the performance of his new machine, and especially remarked on how incredibly quiet it was.
